The men said it was time to tear down the old barn. The boys were
afraid this was coming. For years and old mare named Swayback moped
around the farm. When she died, the men started calling the old
barn Swayback. This was not a good sign.
In this, the seventh
in the Little Book Series, Jim Heynen writes of an old mare and and older
barn. The mare has died and the barn is soon to go. The men
would like to see it leveled. The boys are determined to keep it
standing.
The engraving is of Patti & Lowell Moline's old barn,
off of county road N. It has been carved from finished maple half-rounds,
and printed on Japanese Paper. The remainder of the book was printed
on Zerkall mould-made paper by Ben Verhoeven and Gaylord Schanilec in
the summer of 2006. The text was hand-set by Julia Hinderlie in
Italian Old Style which was cast by Scott King. Issued in a slipcase.
