Kimberly Blaeser grew up on the White Earth Reservation in northwestern Minnesota, and currently teaches at UW Milwuakee. She was Wisconsin Poet Laureate 2015-2016.

A book induced by the 12,000-year-long journey of Saint Anthony Falls, the only natural waterfall on the Mississippi River, from Saint Paul to Minneapolis — a distance all of ten miles.

Paul Nylander documents the process he and GS are using to create “My Mighty Journey,” in his Tumblr Blog.

I had planned to start working on it in earnest after Mayflies, but then Benjamin Verhoeven turned up, and Sylvæ delayed things. I'd say the project started when I bought the boat, and began remodeling it in the summer of 2008.” - G.S.

The finished book, Lac Des Pleurs, is on display at the Hennepin County library in downtown Minneapolis. Copies are in the collections of institutions such as the U of San Francisco, Carleton College, Harvard Widener Library, Columbia University, among many others. Email for a complete list. The poem is of two voices — hers, and language from a US Government/Native American treaty. Her voice is printed in black, the treaty language embossed without ink, and the footprints printed from impressions of her feet.
